Learn how to play bridge this fall

If you're like me and don't play bridge, then you are probably just as bewildered as I am when you read in the games section of the newspaper about the bridge hands that have been dealt to the compass points. Bids, passes, raises, trumps, tricks ... what could it possibly all mean?

Now is your chance to satisfy your curiosity and find out what this bridge playing is all about. Starting Monday, October 11, a bridge class will begin at the library, taught by Joseph Hendon. Mr. Hendon is a retired chemist and educator and an avid bridge player. He will conduct classes for beginners for 8 weeks.

When: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., October 11 - December 8 (no classes the week of Thanksgiving)
Where: Library Multi-Purpose Room
Cost: $30 for a book, Bridge for Dummies, and various handouts (fee due before the first meeting)
Sign-up deadline: Friday, October 8

Registration is limited to 18 participants so sign up soon!  The last time this was offered the class filled up quickly.

For more information, please contact Emily Irby at the Library (826-3712).
