Before you pick up your next hold--Read This!

Are you one of those savvy library customers that frequently checks your account online? Do you wait in anticipation for your reserves to come in so that you can rush down to the library to pick them up? If so, then this message is for you!

Our bookmobile librarian is now conducting "live" circulation of library materials on the bookmobile via a laptop computer. What this means for you is that when she checks in a book (or other item) that is hold for you, the book will immediately appear on your account as ready to pick up. In reality, the book will not actually be in the library for you until the end of the day when the bookmobile returns from its route.

So if you are one of those people who checks their account online (and we think you're great!), you may see from time to time items being held for you that have a location status of "BOOKMOBILE." The library will call you when the item has been delivered from the bookmobile and is ready for you to pick up. If you are unsure, please call the library. A library staff member will be able to tell you if the item is on the bookmobile or ready for pick up.

This computer upgrade is a big step forward for our community outreach services. For years our bookmobile librarian has used a hand-held unit for circulation that limited the service she could provide her patrons. Now she has a laptop that allows her to provide the same service anywhere in Henderson County that a person would receive at the main library downtown.
