Kentucky Poet Laureate to speak October 3, 2006


The Friends of the Henderson County Public Library will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Main and Washington Streets in Henderson, Kentucky.


The featured speaker this year is Sena Jeter Naslund, who is serving as Kentucky's poet laureate for 2005-2006. She is the author of 6 works of fiction, including 2 critically acclaimed, national bestselling novels, Ahab's Wife and Four Spirits . Both were named Notable Books by the New York Times. In October 2006, her latest work, Abundance : a Novel of Marie Antoinette, will be published. Copies of this book, as well as her earlier books, will be available for purchase and autographing by the author.

Dr. Naslund will read and discuss her writing as well as discussing her debt and gratitude to public libraries.

The public is welcome and admission is free. Refreshments will be served following the program. This program is funded in part by the Kentucky Humanities Council, Inc.
