Spring break programs for children

Spring break for Henderson County students is just around the corner and the Library is preparing some exciting programs for children. We will be highlighting owls this year in honor of our newly added Great Horned Owls outdoor sculpture and Great Horned Owl indoor specimen.

Registration is required and will be held March 18-24. You can register at the library or online beginning March 18.

Whooooo Knows Owls - Tuesday, April 3 at 1:30

Children ages 5 and up are invited to attend this program and hear Alan Gehret, curator of the Audubon Museum, explain how owls see, think and live. There will be fun activities and storytelling.

"Give a Hoot" Owl Storytime - Wednesday, April 4 at 1:30

Children ages 5 and up will hear owl stories, sing owl songs, learn owl trivia and make a paper bag owl puppet.

"Name That Owl" Contest Reception - Thursday, April 5 at 1:30

The Library has acquired a wonderfully preserved Great Horned Owl through the generosity of the Chip Crafton family. It is housed in the Children's Department and is a fine specimen. To make sure that our owl truly feels at home in our library, we would like to give him a name.

Children ages 5-13 are invited to participate in our "Name That Owl" contest. Submit your favorite name beginning March 18 at the library or online. For contest rules and more information, please visit our official spring break page.
